  2. Pwede poh ba magtanong? kac po lumabas sakin is pasado poh ako sa Los Banos but i got Degree Program w/ available slot kailan ko po kaya malalaman kung anung course ang pwede saken? kailangan po ba pumunta agad sa los banos? or may letter po na dadating?

      • Kiel, I’m still waiting for my cousin’s reply. That’s what happened to her last year eh. I want her reply para maganda at hindi hula-hula lang ang sagot ko. Promise I’ll reply 🙂

      • Kiel, this is what my niece (hindi pala cousin) texted me:

        Pag po dumating na po yung letter na galing sa campus na pinasahan nila, tinatanong po dun yung [new] 1st and 2nd desired course choices nila. Ang inilagay ko po bio at chem pa rin [respectively, like on her application form]. Tapos ime-mail po ulit yung letter dun sa campus. Ino-notify po after a month kung pasok po dun sa isa sa nilagay mo po na courses. Kung after one month wala pa din po, pwede i-email ang registrar [ng campus] para tanungin po kung ano’ng course ang ibinigay nila for you.
        In my case po, natagalan po yung pag-notify kaya in-email ko po yung registrar para ma-approve po yung course. May cases din po na sa mga inilagay mong course [new], wala pa ding slot. Kaya po kailangan ma-approve ASAP.

  3. Hello po Ms.Dew. 🙂 Question po. Sa UP Baguio po ako nakapasa, yun po yung 2nd choice ko po na campus, UPLB po 1st choice ko. .. Pwede pa ba po ako mag pa-wait list sa LB? Thank you so much po 😀

    • Hi Heytreena! If you listed UPLB as one of your choice campuses, esp. if it’s your first choice, you have good chances of getting in. I personally know several who got into UP Baguio but since their first choice campus is UPLB, they got in after applying for the waitlist/recon of UPLB. Come February, UPLB will release its criteria and flowchart for waitlisting. Good luck!

    • With your post, maraming galit sayo, haha! Pangarap nila tapos tinatanggihan mo. But still, because of you, magkakaro’n ng vacant slot so YEHEY! Hindi na sila galit sa ‘yo. 🙂

      To answer your question, UP will give it to someone who they deem as worthy. Sadly, you can’t be the one to choose to give it to whomever you like.

    • Regarding UP, I honestly have no idea. But I think you have to. Let me tell you what I know about De La Salle’s set up: A couple of years ago, someone from DLSU athletics department (or something akin to this department) called Brain Train, asking us to tutor/review some students who they’re eyeing to be part of their varsity. Gusto nilang pumasa sa DLSUCET yung mga bata para maging athlete nila. With that info, I therefore conclude that the athletes of La Salle passed the DLSUCET. I’m not sure with UP, though. I was about to say that I think that UP athletes had to pass the UPCAT, which is mahirap, kaya siguro limited yung excellent athletes ng UP (kasi nga hindi pumasa sa UPCAT, hehe). But I realized it may also be because UP’s offers are not as good as the offers of rich, private universities. Again, what I’m saying are just my humble opinions, not verified by an authority. But I’ll ask around na rin. 🙂 Will get back to you when I already have answers.

  7. My first choice is UP LB and my second choice is UP Diliman.
    If I passed the cut off grade that Diliman requires, I can enroll there, right?

    • Oh no no no no no! I’ve read from Academic Clinic and heard from people that UP Diliman does not, in any way, accept recon. UP Diliman’s cutoff is higher than UPLB’s…good thing you passed UPLB otherwise you’d have had no fallback campus (mali ‘yung pag-fill out mo 😦 Nag-BT ka ba? I’m sure we discuss this on our UPCAT Miscellaneous session; sayang naman if ever). Unless you have kapit sa chancellor ng UP Diliman, or sa UP President. Ang alam ko they have that privilege to give special favors.

      Ako, when I took the UPCAT in 1999, first choice ko UP Min because I am from originally from Mindanao (but currently in Los Banos) and I badly missed it at the time I was filling out my application form. I passed, but then by the time the results were out, gusto ko na palang mag-UPLB. I got my UPG and saw that got a pretty high UPG, more than enough para makapasok ako sa UPLB, so I was confident. Nagpa-waitlist ako, BUT to my surprise I didn’t get in. I talked to the then UPLB Registrar, and asked why I wasn’t accepted despite the fact that among those on the waitlist, I have the highest UPG. The Registrar told me that it was unethical–UP Min has already given me a slot, and that it was my fault that I didn’t choose UPLB as my first choice campus. Kung ganun daw ang laging mangyayari, magiging magulo kasi lahat papalipat na.

      I eventually got into UPLB in the first sem of 2000 a week after classes have already begun, but How? That’s already a different story na mahabang kwento. But in a nutshell, I attribute it to divine intervention and God’s grace. 🙂

  8. Kapag pending case po ba, after magpass ng mga requirements, okay na po ba yun or do i have to take an interview? and kapag pending po ba, hindi po ba connected ‘to sa average na nakuha? passed na po ba talaga kami and there’s a slot for us?

    • As far as I remember, my classmates who had pending cases then just submitted their requirements and then OK na. Yung isa pa nga was asked kung ano’ng gusto niyang course, tapos pinalitan niya (iba yung nasa application form niya), tapos in-approve. I distinctly remember him saying, “Mas OK pa na pending ako, nakapagpalit pa ako ng course easily!”

      I’ll contact them and ask them again para sure.

      Posible ring maka-affect siguro if yung deficiency mo ay high school grades mo. Remember, 40% yun ng UPG mo. If mababa HS grades mo and hindi pa yun naisama sa pag-compute ng UPG mo, BAKA (baka lang ha) it may spell the difference sa campus mo…it may weigh down your UPG. If mataas naman, it may boost your UPG. 🙂

      Hi Dewmaine, di ko na matandaan kung ano yung kulang na requirement sakin, i mommy kase nagayos. . What I do remember is that hindi na ‘ko ininterview whatsoever.
      Pero si *** yung sister ko, pending din yun sa Diliman, birth certificate ata kulang.

      • may reserved slot na po ang mga included sa pending cases? and kung malaman ko na po yung kulang na requirements ko then pinasa ko na, gaano po katagal bago ko malaman yung naging resulta? kasi po i’m really nervous. masyado po ako natataranta at naeexcite. baka po mamaya anjan na yung UP, bigla pa mawala.       • Meron na for you, I swear! 🙂 Yung length of time para maging OK, as far as I remember, mabilis lang. Honestly ha, when it happened to my classmates, I never heard them having a difficult time…I didn’t hear them say that there was a chance their slots might get lost.

      • Hello po! I’m now qualified for UP, Kaso po UP Baguio. Yun naman po ang problem ko ngayon, taga santa cruz laguna po kasi ako. Paano po ako makakalipat ng UPLB? Yung hindi ko kailangang magstop ng ilang sem or mag UP baguio, kasi po hindi po ako papayagan talaga pag sa baguio. It’s too far from home 😦 Please answer po. Thanks po!

  10. Degree Program with Available Slot po yung nakalagay sa akin, tapos yung gusto ko po talagang course ay BA European Languages. Ibig po ba nun sabihin na taken na po ang lahat ng slots ng EL? Pwede pa po ba mag-inquire, or do I have to go directly to the OUR as soon as possible to ‘reserve’ a slot for my desired course? UP Diliman po ako nakapasok. 🙂 Thanks BT, also. :3

    • ^I believe so. Like what I said on my post, your choice courses were in demand and the slots for your choice courses have already been filled up. Best bet is still to inquire at UP Diliman. Again like what I said, not all who pass the UPCAT proceed to study there. I’m still waiting for my niece’s (hindi pala cousin) reply, because that was what happened to her last year. I’ll post her reply as soon as she does.

Because on their website, it says something about first week of February 😦 eh naeexcite na po ako kasi baka maubusan ako ng slot XD Ano po advice niyo? 🙂

    • Try calling na rin. At worst, they (UP registrar people) will just think, “Anu ba yan, excited!“, “Hindi ito nagbabasa!” or ask you to call again. At least you’ll feel more relaxed. But even if you don’t call right away, I don’t think you’ll run out of slots–you already have one…you’re an UPCAT passer!

    • Hmmm. I think (THINK being the operative word ha?) mahirap pero baka possible. It won’t hurt to ask. But if you can’t be accommodated, I suggest you get the curriculum of Archi and compare it to BAA. Kunin mo yung common GE subjects ninyo–ipa-cancel mo yung subjects ng BAA na hindi applicable sa Archi para walang sayang na units when you shift 🙂

  17. Hello po :)) Um, isa po ako sa mga nakapasa and I was just wondering… ano po ba tlga ang STFAP in layman’s terms? Tulad po ba sya ng ibang scholarship na kelangan magrend ng service hours or di kaya bawal bumaba yung nakuhang grades?

    What if naman kung di po ako mag-apply sa STFAP, magkano po ngaun ang babayarin ko per unit? 1,000 po ba o 1,500? Kasi alam ko 1,000 pesos lng po talaga pero may nabasa po kasi akong isang article na nagsasabi na automatically daw, upon enrollment, inaassume agad nung UP na mayaman ka kaya sisingilin ka ng 1,500 (unless na lng kung mgSTFAP ka). I hope that article is wrong though.

    At tsaka, last question po: magkano po ba ang miscellaneous fees?

    *Sensya na po kung ang dami ko pong tanong…. \>.</ I just felt the need to ask since it seems ang dami nyo pong alam regarding UP :")

    • Hi Karen! ‘Yung mga alam ko, mga naririnig ko lang na kwento from parents of former BRAIN TRAIN students, my and my friends’ experiences as UP students. When you’re already in the academe, you will realize these things are common knowledge. Nevertheless, thanks. But I’m no authority.

      Anyway to answer your questions:

      1. ano po ba tlga ang STFAP in layman’s terms? Tulad po ba sya ng ibang scholarship na kelangan magrend ng service hours or di kaya bawal bumaba yung nakuhang grades?
      – STFAP is like UP’s inhouse scholarship, and is a privilege of every UP undergrad student. Unlike other “special” scholarships, there is no grade requirements and wala nang ibang mga kondisyones. Kasi di ba yung ibang scholarships, may exam-exam pa for them to deem you’re deserving? Sa STFAP, ‘pag UP student ka, deserving ka na agad IF you can prove that you really need it.
      Maraming ibang hindi na ito ina-avail kasi maraming requirements such as your parents’ income tax return, certifications from different agencies, etc. You have to be honest because UP does random background checks. They’ll visit your place, interview neighbors, ganun. So even if your parents are unemployed but may benefactor ka (like relatives abroad), you also have to declare that.
      Remember that UP’s tuition is already subsidized—kahit walang STFAP, mura na ‘to with the quality of education you’ll be getting. So the least we could do is be honest and to not cheat UP.

      2. What if naman kung di po ako mag-apply sa STFAP, magkano po ngaun ang babayarin ko per unit? 1,000 po ba o 1,500? Kasi alam ko 1,000 pesos lng po talaga pero may nabasa po kasi akong isang article na nagsasabi na automatically daw, upon enrollment, inaassume agad nung UP na mayaman ka kaya sisingilin ka ng 1,500 (unless na lng kung mgSTFAP ka).
      – YES, if you don’t apply for STFAP, the University will automatically assume you can afford the tuition and miscellaneous fees. If you’ll be studying in UP Diliman, UP Los Baños,
      or UP Manila, tuition per unit is P1,500 ata ang tuition per unit; pag sa ibang campuses P1,000 lang. Ung miscellaneos fees naman, pag UP Diliman or UP Los Baños ay additional P2,000 per sem. Others’ are not far behind.

      • Ahhh, ganun po pala yun… so mamahalin din pla onte ang tuition sa UP. At this rate, baka mag-apply na nga po ako para sa STFAP if I still plan on enrolling there :/ hayz…

        I just read in the STFAP site that:

        “Students who do not apply for STFAP benefits will be assigned to Bracket A (yung 1,500) or B (1,000), depending on the Gross Family Income that they declared when they confirmed their intention to enroll in UP.”

      • Karen, just in case you’re confused or missed something, that’s P1,500 per unit. A normal academic load is usually 18 units per semester. So that’s 18 units x P1,500 = P27,000 per sem.

    • Try mo na rin. If hindi pwede, shift ka na lang. Get the curriculum of the course you want, and make sure that the GE courses you’ll take in your first year will be applicable to it so nothing is wasted. Good luck!

  23. Hi! May question po ako. Pwede po bang magchange programs right after the UPCAT bago po mag-enrollment? Is there such a process? Para po kasing ang hassle magshift after a year, considering na may hinahabol pong required GWA. I hope maliwanagan po ako!

    • Try mo na rin. I honestly don’t know. But I think UP won’t be lenient in that, otherwise majority yan ang gagawin ergo magiging magulo, dadami work ng tao sa Registrar 🙂
      If hindi pwede, shift ka na lang. Get the curriculum of the course you want, and make sure that the GE courses you’ll take in your first year will be applicable to it so nothing is wasted. As for the required GWA, it’s not THAT high. At least ma-pressure ka to do well. Good luck!

    My courses and campus choices are:
    UPM – Physical Therapy, Behavioral Science
    UPLB – Biology, Communication
    if ever po ba na malapit or naabot ng UPG ko yung cut off ng UP Diliman, is it possible for me to transfer there kahit di pa po ngstart yung sem? I am thinking of enrolling in UPD, Industrial engineering sana pero if ever I will not qualify I’ll go for UPLB’s Electrical Engineering:) is it possible po? thanks in advance

    • Hi! I doubt if you’re ever going to make it to Diliman. You see, for this year, UP Diliman’s cutoff has become higher that UP Manila’s (UPG cutoffs adjust every depending on the demand; now that the populace has realized that we have surplus of BS Nursing graduates, they ceased choosing UP Manila for BS Nursing). Moreover, just in case your UPG is indeed high and UPD’s cutoff is lower than Manila’s (again, I have to dampen your spirits by saying that it possibly isn’t, given that you got DPWAS in UPLB–if you got a high UPG, you’d have been given your first choice course), the fact that you didn’t choose UP Diliman is a big deal. UPLB doesn’t even reconsider those who did not put UPLB as their choice campus.

  29. hi, for the panding cases, if already submitted and complete all requirements, what will happen then?
    should we just wait? until when?
    is it presume we can already wait to enroll or its not yet sure? as all other colleges require very early reservation with fees, baka we will wait for nothing and no college to enroll,
    does the pending cases can be assure with enrollment to UP if no problem with the additional requirements?

    • Quoting UP’s website:

      **Pending cases are not guaranteed admission into any campus/college of the University of the Philippines. For pending cases, all deficient requirements must be submitted on or before the 2nd week of March, 2012. For further details, please inquire at the UP Office of Admissions, Diliman, QC at Telefax no 9274561 or Tel no. (02)981-8500 loc. 3826 to 3831 starting on the first week of February, 2012.

      Moreover, if your name was originally indicated as a pending case but now no longer appears on the list, this means that your case was resolved in favor of non-qualification into any of the campuses of your choice. Your non-qualifier’s slip has been mailed to you c/o your school. You may also contact the office of admissions to check on your UPG as well as the options open to you. We wish you all the best in your endeavors.

  32. Hi! I just came across this website somehow, and I’d like to share my experience regarding pending cases. I once got a pending case, and I could not deny how stressed I was about it. I was required to pass a certified true copy of my grades from 1st-3rd year high school. After 2 weeks, I got my result and I passed my preferred course in Diliman (Economics). So if you also got a pending case like I did, don’t worry too much. You got really big chances in qualifying. :))

    • Basically, it’s 40% high school grades and 60% UPCAT score. However, other factors are also considered. But these other factors don’t weigh as much.

  34. good evening, ma’am..magtatanong din ho ako regarding UP admission kung pwede pa po bang mag-take ng UP-CAT ngayon..balak ko lang po sanang kumuha ng konting units this summer..pampalipas katamaran lang ho..college graduate na po ako from another school..ayun po, kung pwede lang po mag-summer sa UP, any health or science-related na subjects sana.. (any campus kung makakapasa)..salamat ho, ma’am..

  35. May tanong po ako. Kasi pending case ako and then nung tumawag kami like 3 weeks ago, sabi high-school records raw. Tapos just last week, pinadala sa up diliman office yung high-school records ko. Kaso after ilang days, tumawag yung Mom ko, tapos ang sabi sa kanya, yung 3rd year grades ko raw ang conflicting. (Kasi nung 3rd year ako, lumipat ako ng bagong school, tapos bumalik ulit ako sa luma kong school Hahahaha.)   36. Hi ask ko lng yung tungkol sa anak ko kc pending case din yung sa kanya, last week tumawag kami sa UP sabi na received na nila yung grades ng anak ko galing Texas USA for evaluation pa. Ano po kaya ang chances na ma qualify yung anak ko?

      • Bakit po kc up to now wala pa ring result yung sa pending case ng anak, pag nag check kmi online ng result ng pending case ganun pa din, sabi sa UP for evaluation pa raw after 10 days malalaman ang results, sana di na lng sinama sa list ng passers yung mga pending case para di masyadong umaasa….

      • @Ms. Rowena: I couldn’t help but notice your comment. Actually, I got a pending case for this UPCAT batch as well, but I’m actually quite thankful for it. Thing is, the chances of not being able to qualify (when you’re a pending case) are so low that almost everyone makes it to the cut. I had my requirements passed on January 20 and I’ve learnt of my result on the first Friday of February, when we called the OOA. They updated my status on the website just last Sunday, I think. I’m only telling you this because you seem so negative about your child’s pending case. 🙂

        P.S. I haven’t gotten my notice of admission. Does anyone know when they are sending out notices for those who just got their pending case resolved? My (non-pending case) schoolmates got theirs about a week ago. 😦

  38. Hello po! Gusto ko lang po malaman kung pwede pong magpatransfer ng UP Campus directly after the UPCAT. DPWAS po ako sa UP Manila and gusto ko po sanang magpatransfer sa UP Baguio and kukuha po ng BS Biology. First choice ko po ang UP Manila and 2nd po ang Diliman. Pwede po bang magpatransfer sa UP B kahit hindi po nilagay dati sa application form? And ano po yung steps na kailangang gawin? Thank you po!

    PS. As of now po, I still haven’t received my letter from UP so I still don’t know my UPG. I’m also from Pangasinan so maybe that’s why.

    • Hi Bryan! I am sure that kung UPG lang ang pag-uusapan, pasok ang UPG mo sa UP Baguio given that you passed UP Manila. However, hindi porke’t mataas ang UPG mo e sure nang pwede kang pumasok na sa UP Baguio. Like UPLB. Even if super taas ng UPG mo yet wala sa choices mo ang UPLB, hindi ka tatanggapin, unless Oblation scholar ka (ikaw na ang Top 50 out of 75,000!). Still, it’s worth a try. I’m not really familiar with UPB kasi. Better ask them. Pero para safe, don’t give up your UP Diliman slot.

      • Thank you po for your reply. Um sa UP M po ako naDPWAS, di po sa UP D. 😀 Pero does that mean po na pwede akong magtransfer sa UP D if ever po na yung UPG ko is within you cutoff. And paano rin po kung DOST scholar ako? Pwede po ba? Pasensya po sa maraming tanong. 😀

    • Hi Maan, sorry I missed replying to your earlier query. As far as I know, the UPCAT may be taken only by those who haven’t set foot in any college/university yet. If you want to apply for a master’s degree in UP, check the college you want to enter for the requirements. I’m sure it won’t be passing the UPCAT.
      Aside from MS, UP also offers certificate courses. Again, UPCAT is not a prerequisite for that.

  40. hello po. yung UP po kasi nagpapadala ng mga letter sa mga nasa upper 10% sa UPCAT, yung mga kilala ko po nakatanggap na. e ako po kasi nag-pending case, pero naresolve na rin po at pumasa naman po ako sa UP diliman sa first choice ko (eng’g). may chance parin po ba ako na makatanggap ng ganung letter kahit po pending case ako? salamat po

  41. …hello poh,… tanung ko lang po kung ano pong laman ng letter na galing up pag nkapasa ka, kc po nkapasa po ako sa 1st choice kong campus (uplb) at course (chem engr.) tpus ung natanggap ko pong letter eh yung letter na nagsasabing nkapasa ako at ung tungkol sa APE kc daw po above 90 ung nkuha ko sa upcat (may ksama pong application form para dun sa APE-Adavance Placement exa,). yun lang po ung laman ng letter tpus un pong sa classmate ko eh degree program w/ available slot eh marami pong laman ung letter nya. may tunkol po dun sa stfap, reply slip at ung physical tests schedule at dorms. wla po akong nkuhang ganun, ibig sbihin po ba nun d ko na kailangang kumuha nung physical tests?…. kinakabahan po kc ako bka po kulang ung natanggap ko… tnx po.

  43. Hi Ma’am, I’m a parent living abroad, ang aking anak ay di nakapasa sa dalawang campus choices nya na Diliman at Manila pero nong natanggap po nya ang letter ang UPG nya ay 2.520 . Ibig po bang sabihin eh pwede sya magpa reconsider sa other UP campuses, pero bakit may mga nababasa ako na hindi pwede sa UPLB dahil hindi nya ito inilista…:( saang campus po sya pwede magpa reconsider? Please guide us, salamat po….

    • Hi Ma’am, try UP Manila. In our (BRAIN TRAIN) review, we point out that the Manila-Diliman/Diliman-Manila combination is too risky, as they have almost the same cut-offs (the 2nd choice is suppose to be your safety net…if you didn’t get into Diliman, chances are that you also won’t get into Manila).
      Diliman NEVER (or almost NEVER) accepts recon/waitlist, so your only choice is Manila. But with the number of people in the Metro who would probably try to to waitlist there, plus the size of UP Manila campus, chances of being considered are pretty low 😦 Still, won’t hurt to try.

  45. Uhm, alam ko pong obvious masyado pero…can I ask questions? (Sorry po marami)

    1.) I received a letter from UPLB saying I qualified for their campus but my course choices were not able to accomodate me. (Degree Program With Available Slot) I have known na pwede pala pong mag-confirm ng slots online and I was given these choices:

    > Vet Med
    >Agr. Econo.
    >Agr. Biotech
    > Agr.
    >Forestry

    Ang pinagtataka ko lang po…nilagay ko po ang Vet Med as my second choice pero nasa choices pa rin po siya ng mga pagpipilian ko.

    Also…I am having doubts enlisting online cause I was planning to send the reply slips by going to UPLB myself in order for the respective people to clarify details vague to me. Sorry po medyo magulo…here is my second question:

    2.) Balak ko po kasing ilagay sa Reply slip 1 ko ang BA Philosophy as my 1st choice then Bs Bio/Vet Med as my 2nd choice. Pero wala po sa online enlistment na nakalagay na BA Philosophy. Pwede ko pa rin po bang isulat sa letter na ibinigay sa akin ang BA PHLO kahit di siya nakalagay sa online registration since sa letter naman po, available LAHAT ng mga programs for waitlisting?

    Eto po talaga…last na. XD

    3.) Nakalagay din po sa letter ko ang tungkol sa Bracket B. Ang kaso lang po, hindi kami sakop ng bracket B dahil below 500,000 php po ang gross family income namin. Putol po ang STFAP na nakalagay sa letter ko. Required ko rin po bang ipasa ang STFAP before the deadline? Pwede po bang unahin ko munang ipasa ang ‘reply slips’ ko bago ang STFAP ko basta po at di ako lumampas ng deadline?

  51. Hi! I just read the queries here and I think the experience of my daughter will help. Two years ago she passed UPCAT- UP Baguio BS Bio (her second choice, her first choice is UP Manila). But I told her to apply for reconsideration in UPLB BS Bio. We read infos in UPLB website on how to apply for recon. And after a long wait she was reconsidered. So i think its not important that you put UPLB in your choice of school but the most important is your UPG and if there is available slot and if you qualify for the course you applied. The only thing we got worried about is that the result will be released till the end of May. But we knew this beforehand, kaya dapat may option ka pang iba, in her case she also took and passed the entrance test in CEU. So in case di sya ma reconsider sa UPLB my school sya papasukan. Kaya be patient sa pag hihintay. I believe talaga na pag para sayo God will guide you. Congrats sa mga upcat passers including my youngest son! Goodluck!

    • Pasado ang DPWAS. Ang ibig sabihin lang ay hindi ka ‘pa’ nakakapasok dun sa napili mong courses dahil hindi ka umabot sa quota. Magtanong ka lang kaagad dun sa admin or kung sino man ang taong assigned don para makapili ng alternate courses. Pero marami akong kilalang nakuha pa rin ang first choice nila kahit DPWAS sila noong una! Goodluck! Merry Christmas! 🙂

  54. Hi, ma’am! I just want to share this with you and know what your opinion on this is:

    On my UP application form, the 2 campuses I’ve chosen was UP Diliman. BS Chemical Engineering was my course, too. (Yabang eh) =))) But sadly, I didn’t make it to their cut-off. And a couple of weeks ago, I went to the OAR of Diliman and got my UPG. It’s a 2.4, and as i’ve heard, it’s eligible for a reconsideration in other UP campuses.

    Being the athlete that I am, I was advised by the registrar to visit the College of Human Kinetics and try out for their varsity team. I did, and was offered a slot in the campus. However, if i accept their offer, i would only be allowed to enroll in a non-quota course, which totally sucks because BS Chemical Engineering is totally far from not being a non-quota course. But should i be really eager to shift to a quota course after having been accepted in varsity, i’d have to wait for 2 years before being eligible for transfer. Plus, i’d have to get good grades, too, whilst maintaining my varsity requirements.

    My point is, ma’am, do you think I should accept the offer or just apply for a reconsideration in UP Manila? They do not have any engineering courses there, but they do offer BS Biochemistry which is the closest course related to my Chemical Engineering.

    • Hi! As far as I know, you can shift after a year. Or a semester pa nga. Unless they have different requirements if you enter as an athlete.

      Re: maintaining good grades, kaya yan! buti nga may inspiration and goal ka. Just get GE courses in your first sem/year para hindi masayang kahit mag-shift ka na.

Mam, can you please elaborate on this a little bit: Ako, when I took the UPCAT in 1999, first choice ko UP Min because I am from originally from Mindanao (but currently in Los Banos) and I badly missed it at the time I was filling out my application form. I passed, but then by the time the results were out, gusto ko na palang mag-UPLB. I got my UPG and saw that got a pretty high UPG, more than enough para makapasok ako sa UPLB, so I was confident. Nagpa-waitlist ako, BUT to my surprise I didn’t get in. I talked to the then UPLB Registrar, and asked why I wasn’t accepted despite the fact that among those on the waitlist, I have the highest UPG. The Registrar told me that it was unethical–UP Min has already given me a slot, and that it was my fault that I didn’t choose UPLB as my first choice campus. Kung ganun daw ang laging mangyayari, magiging magulo kasi lahat papalipat na.

    I eventually got into UPLB in the first sem of 2000 a week after classes have already begun, but How? That’s already a different story na mahabang kwento. But in a nutshell, I attribute it to divine intervention and God’s grace. 🙂

    Ganyan po kasi nangyari sa akin eh, gusto ko din po sana lumipat ng campus. PLease help mam!! 🙂

      Anyway, a UPLB student from Davao withdrew her enrollment because she became homesick after a week. Since many people at the registrar’s office knew my story, they told me about it. In short, we switched places.

      I really did not want to tell you this lest you hunt down people you would switch places with. It was a very rare case…everything just fell at the right place at the right time. If that girl had withdrawn her UPLB slot weeks earlier, her slot might have been given to someone else. If I did not know anyone at the Registrar’s office, they might not have contacted me. Many other factors were in play, I believe.

      By the way, do I know you? I am just curious.
